Working across the region

Nggangganawili Aboriginal Health Service further supports the Indigenous population by organising access to secondary and tertiary health services. This includes referral as well as arranging visits from specialists and linking them with clients.

Links between primary health care and these other levels of the health care system are important and Nggangganawili Aboriginal Health Service has a vital role to play in facilitating timely access to external services for the community.
Unfortunately, the burden of disease means that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population need greater access to a wider variety of health services. When adding the complication of distance and its attendant problems such as transport and access to family support, connecting the Wiluna community to broader health services is a complex and difficult task.

Nggangganawili Aboriginal Health Service provides GP services to mine workers in the surrounding region through partnerships with BHP Billiton Nickel West Mt Keith, Newmont Mining, and Magellan Metals. These partnerships are highly valued and form part of wider relationship with the local mining companies.
