organisation_profileNgangganawili Aboriginal Health Service (formally constituted as the Ngangganawili Aboriginal Community Controlled Health and Medical Services Aboriginal Corporation) is an incorporated aboriginal community organisation formed in 1993 to provide health and medical services to Aboriginal people and the general community in the shire of Wiluna. Ngangganawili Aboriginal Health Service is a non-profit organisation managed by a governing committee and is incorporated under the Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976.  

The target client group for Ngangganawili Health Service is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people residing in the Shire of Wiluna including the town and the local communities. Clinical services are also provided for the non-Indigenous community.

The role of Ngangganawili Health Service as stated in its constitution is to:

  • establish and operate community controlled, community based and decentralised health and medical services which provide affordable and culturally appropriate services.
  • encourage acknowledgement and respect for what individuals, families and groups see as their health needs.
  • develop within the health service a learning centre for health workers, medical practitioners, medical students, nursing students and others.
  • provide opportunities for education, employment and training to enable members to perform management, administration and health service delivery functions within a health service.
  • develop a network of resource personnel having the appropriate attitudes and skills to support the Community’s health and development initiatives of the Community.
  • assist people in overcoming poverty and associated personal and social illness.
