CLINIC HOURS
The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am until 4.30 pm. The clinic is closed on weekends and public holidays except for appointments by arrangement eg for dressings, or important checkups, or emergencies.
APPOINTMENTS
We are not able to operate a regular appointment system, so patients are seen in order of arrival except for emergencies or other serious medical problems. Doctors may provide after hours appointments (eg for longer consultations) by personal arrangement - discuss this possibility directly with the doctor.
Patients must see the receptionist on arrival and fill in a form requesting a consultation, including whether they would like to see the doctor or a nurse. The nurse may decide to refer the patient to the doctor if the problem is not straight forward.
If the clinic is very busy patients might consider returning at a quieter time. The mornings, especially Mondays, are always very busy. Sometimes there is an emergency and medical staff can be busy with one patient for a long time. Please talk to the receptionist to find out how long you might have to wait. The doctors can take phone calls from patients but may have to return the call if the clinic is busy. Home visits by the doctors are not routine but can be arranged in the case of emergency or special circumstances.
CLINIC STAFF
Our doctors are Dr Toby McLeay, Dr Norm Tuppin and Dr Simon Miles
Our Regisered Nurses are Chris Webb (Nurse Manager), Monica McDougall (HFL Clinical Coordinator), Tanya Reimann, Emerald Chit, Dan Tysoe and Leith Curnuck. Our Health workers are Catherine Carton, Anne Geary and Victor Ashwin.
We provide a 24 hour a day emergency service. Patients can contact the nurse on call by either phoning the clinic number 08 99817063, or by pressing the button at the clinic front door. The nurse will make arrangements to see the patient, either at the clinic or at home if necessary. The doctor will be contacted by the nurse if necessary for advice or attendance.
FEES AND CHARGES
All consults will be bulk billed except for workers compensation and insurance medicals.
MEDICINES
We are a dispensing practice and provide PBS medicines without charge. All other medications will be provided at cost price. The doctors are able to provide scripts which can be filled at other pharmacies.
TEST RESULTS
Results of any tests should be obtained by a return visit. In some cases this can be done by telephone. Discuss with the doctor how this should be done in your case. We make every effort to contact patients with abnormal results, but we ask that you contact us to get your results, just in case our system slips up. No news is not necessarily good news. Please check with your doctor after every test.
CLIENTELE
Although we operate an Aboriginal Medical Service, our services are equally available to all persons including mining and pastoral workers, town residents and travellers.
PRIVACY
It is our policy to maintain security of all patient information, and allow access only to authorised persons. All staff sign a patient confidentiality agreement.
PROBLEMS
Please talk to our staff if you have any questions or concerns. You may prefer to write to us if you have any complaints. Address letters to the Health Service Manager. We welcome all criticisms and suggestions that will help us provide a better service.
